In March, 2011 a 12,000 s.f. Aqualok Roofing System using the Cool White panels was installed by DC Greenworks at American University on two buildings - Ward Circle and the Mary Graydon Student Center - with assistance from ULI volunteers.
The project received a Green Roof Rebate from the DC Department of the Environment (DDOE).
Sedum plants were installed on the rooftops. Courtyards at the Graydon Student Center were installed unplanted and later augmented with a wide variety of flowering plants. Aqualok can capture and store up to 2.5" of stormwater, sustaining a more diverse group of plants than are typically found in a green roof environment.
