The DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Fleet Maintenance Building now has a 12,000 s.f. unplanted Aqualok roof. The unplanted panels will still capture 3" of stormwater runoff per ASTM E-2398 testing, and the white fabric coating will enable the panels to function as both a Cool White Roof as well as a type of Blue Roof. By combining the benefits of White, Green and Blue roofing systems, Aqualok provides owners with a unique Turquoise Roof.
AU researchers will compare and contrast the performance of the unplanted Aqualok installation at Fleet Maintenance with the adjacent planted roof panels as well as the earlier installations at Engine Company 12.
