Engine 7 was the site of a 2,500 s.f. Aqualok planted roof. Based on our experience with Engine 12, we reduced the number of plants per Aqualok panel to 5 and used a variety of sedum and native grasses to best match the anticipated rooftop environment.
Along with Engine 12, Engine 7 was monitored for water quality and energy savings as part of the grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) to DC Fire & Emergency Medical Services.
